FELONIES, TRAFFIC CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS
In Florida, there are many differences between misdemeanors and felonies. The first, and most obvious difference is the potential penalties for each. A felony is a crime punishable by more than one year of incarceration. A misdemeanor is a crime punishable by one year or less of incarceration. A traffic crime can fall under either category, but will often have special, unique sentences.
